Sebamed Cleansing Bar: A Potential Game-Changer?

Delving deep into their Acne & Pimple Control selection, the Sebamed range caught my eye. Now, here’s a little backstory: my skin is a delicate balance of oily and sensitive, making the quest for that perfect breakout antidote an ongoing saga. Among the Sebamed offerings, the Facial Foam and Cleansing Bar were the two that really stood out. Although the brand wasn’t one I was familiar with, some ingredients had a nostalgic echo from past dermatologist visits. Opting for the budget-friendly route, I went ahead and bagged the cleansing bar—partly due to its affordability compared to the facial foam and partly as a safety net in case it didn’t meet the hype.

Now, with the rains painting the town and a strange alliance between humidity and my breakouts, those pesky zits decided to make an unsolicited appearance. Although I’d been religiously applying a gel prescribed by my dermatologist, its after-effects leaned towards the irritable side. So, I decided it was high time the Sebamed Cleansing Bar got its trial run. And guess what? It worked wonders! The irritation that had become a daily nuisance? Gone in a flash!

Sebamed Cleansing Bar: Promises vs Performance

Claims:

  • Soap-free formulation.
  • Maintains skin’s pH at a balanced 5.5.
  • Moisturises the skin while safeguarding against environmental stressors.
  • Ideal for those with normal to oily skin profiles.

Reality Check:

Honestly, it’s been a while since a product has filled me with such genuine satisfaction. That niggling irritation? Vanished, leading me to believe in their pH 5.5 claim. The fact that it barely lathers reinforces the soap-free assertion, yet it manages to cleanse effectively. Post-cleansing, my skin does crave a touch of moisturisation. So, those with a normal skin type might want to keep their favourite lotion at hand. My face-cleansing regime now exclusively features this bar, and I must say, it feels tailor-made for me. While my zits haven’t entirely retreated, their prominence has definitely waned (though I continue using my doctor-prescribed ointment in tandem).

Ingredients:

Triticum Vulgare Starch, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Aqua, Talc, Lactic Acid, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Panthenol, Insulin, Lecithin, Glycerine, Magnesium Aspartate, Alanine, Lysine, Leucine, Tartaric Acid, Parfum, Ci 77891.

Price:

A fairly priced Rs. 199 for a substantial 100 gm bar.

What’s To Love (Pros):

  • Authenticity of being soap-free.
  • Clinically tested, ensuring an allergy-free experience.
  • A boon for those grappling with acne-prone skin.

Areas for Caution (Cons):

One tiny caveat: It’s imperative to let it dry post-use. Keeping it in a puddle will lead to a melty mess, so a dedicated soap dish is a wise investment.
